The Real "Freeway" Rick Ross Sides With 50 Cent & Floyd Mayweather, Launches Label & Website
Recently freed drug kingpin “Freeway” Rick Ross has revealed plans for his career and record label now that he has his freedom, after a 20-year-prison sentence.
The Los Angeles-based rising entrepreneur has launched a label and website, FreewayEnterprise.com, which will seek new faces to star in new movies being produced by the reformed drug dealer.
Ross appeared on AllHipHop Radio’s Eric B. and Friends morning show today (October 26) and revealed details about his post-prison plans.
“I’m working on four movies right now, including one with Mike Epps," Ross revealed. "I am going to be letting people off the site play in the movie. If you are trying to get on that’s what we are doing, putting people on."
expressed his support for boxer Floyd Mayweather and rapper 50 Cent, two celebrities that have feuded with Miami rapper Rick Ross, who adopted the elder Ross’ name.
"50 Cent called me the day I got out and let me know if there was anything I needed to just let him know, "I don’t know how he got my cell but the morning I got out he called me and expressed his support."
During the interview, Ross broke down his strained relationship with Philadelphia rapper Freeway and Miami emcee Rick Ross, who was born William Roberts III.
“In the beginning I was offended being in prison. Prison makes you a little bitter. I was a little bitter that they didn’t reach out and show me some love for using my handle,” Ross continued. “But right now I am enjoying life. Freeway reached out a week before I got out, but Rick Ross has never reached out, he still hasn’t reached out.”
Ross was freed from the Texarkana Federal Prison in September of 2009, after serving 14-years of a 20-year sentence, after he was busted purchasing 100 kilos of cocaine from undercover agents in 1996.
An attempt to contact rapper Rick Ross was successful when the rap artist first burst upon the national scene in 2001, but the conversation didn’t go well.
“He abruptly stopped taking my phone calls, "I didn’t come with my hand out, I came with ideas that I thought could make their career better. I don’t want to be around nobody where I am just getting fed, I want to be somebody that brings substance to the table.”
The drug baron, who often counted up to as much as a million-dollars per day through his crack dealing operations, is currently finalizing his autobiography in addition to a film centered around his controversial life.
“I am more prepared now than I ever have been before in my life,” Ross stated. “I took all my prior experiences and ive been able to flip them into this legitimate world. I’ve transformed my drug experiences into legitimate business.”

Lil Wayne pleads guilty in gun case
Rap superstar Lil Wayne is prison-bound after taking a surprise -- and surprisingly docile -- gun possession guilty plea this morning in return for a promise of one year behind bars.
The Grammy-winning superstar has performed across the globe, pulling in tens of millions per tour. But he'll be spending most of 2010 in an upstate cage -- thanks to the .40-caliber Springfield Armory semi-automatic cops confiscated from his pot-smoke-infused tour bus after a concert two years ago at the Beacon Theater.
For all his violence-laden lyrics, his guilty plea -- taken shortly after 10 a.m. by Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Charles Solomon -- was utterly well-mannered, peppered with polite "Yes, sir's" and "No, sir's."
Wearing jeans, a puffy, hooded down jacket and his trademark dreads -- the hip hop sensation admitted today only to attempted possession.
Had he risked going to trial and been convicted of the original top charge of outright possession, he'd have been hit with the mandatory minimum of 3 1/2 years prison under New York's stringent gun laws.
Lead prosecutor Joan Illuzzi-Orbon said her office agreed to let Lil Wayne plead down to attempted possession after considering the "mitigating circumstances" of the case.
The prosecutor didn't elaborate. But celebrity defense lawyer Stacey Richman has repeatedly complained that the gun actually belonged to another, uncharged associate of the rapper who was on the bus and was willing to accept responsibilty for it.
Lil Wayne appeared to still be sensitive on the topic of taking the rap for a gun he insists wasn't his own.
Asked by the judge if he was voluntarily pleading to having "exercised dominion or control" over the unlicensed weapon, the rapper paused.
"Yes, I did," he said. "Dominion."
The judge pressed the rapper. "Did you have dominion or control over this weapon -- and that's really what possession is."
"Yes, sir," came the rapper's grudging, but polite, reply.
Lil Wayne's lawyer has also complained that prosecuotrs used faulty forensics in linking Wayne to the gun.
A tiny handful of cells -- anywhere from two to 16, visible only via microscope, all presumably sloughed off skin cells -- were swabbed off the grip and trigger and matched to Lil Wayne's own genetic profile.
In fact, before taking his surprise plea, Lil Wayne had been slated to spend today and tomorrow before the same judge, listening to both sides argue over whether such a small sample of genetic material can be accurately amplified for testing -- and whether loose skin cells on a particular surface prove anything anyway.
Prosecutors, meanwhile, were poised to insist that the so-called "Low template DNA" testing of minute samples has been used around the world beginning in 1999-- including being accepted as evidence in New York City 43 times.
The sides were still reluctant yesterday to set aside their differences on the issue == even though Lil Wayne's plea made the matter moot.
"It's the defense contention that this is still a dangerous technique," Richman announced. "It's dangerous to all the citizenry of New York."
Countered the prosecutor: "The people stand by this procedure."
The tattooed, New Orleans-based performer is due back in court for a pre-sentencing proceeding on Dec. 15, at which time a precise February sentencing date will be set by the judge.
The rapper, born Dwayne Carter, won last year's best rap solo performance Grammy for "A Milli." His albums include "Tha Carter," "Tha Carter II" and "Tha Carter III."

Free From Bad Boy: Mase Walks In On Diddy While Getting Interviewed On Radio & Has Puff Sign His Release Papers!
Man I told yall I had this footage but let me give yall the back story on what went down.
I was doing the V103 Hip Hop Takeover in Atlanta for the BET Hip Hop Awards on October 9th and there were tons of artists scheduled to come through. I had a camera man there so I could get drops and/or interviews for the site. While Puff was there, I was in the hallway talking to someone and saw Mase through the glass.
The receptionist wasn’t at her desk so I opened the door for him, I was shocked to see him, so I’m like “what’s this a BadBoy reunion or some sh*t” Mase was like naw Kim I came up here for this (shoving a letter in my face) when I read the letter i was like OHHHHHHHHHH you wilding wow, we gonna’ see what happens.
Mase then heads towards the studio where Puff is, I tell my camera man to follow him and he straight De-bo’s the interview LIVE ON AIR (pay attention to Puff’s face, when he walks in). He’s gone for a while, then he comes back out with the letter like, I told you! I’m FREE!!!!
DISCLAIMER: I HAD NO IDEA WHAT MASE INTENDED WHEN I LET HIM IN, if I had I would’ve staged it better (*_-)!
Of course the journalist in me, lol……. okay, how about blogger, hmmmmmmm let’s be real, the shit starter in me then pulled him on camera so I could capture his initial feelings of freedom, was he gonna’ head North like all the other slaves did when they were free’d? Bwahaaaaaaaaaa, I’m on some silly sh*t huh? ROTFL.
Pay close attention to Puff’s face, the body language and the vibe in the room. Puff is like “surprise” when Mase walks in and everyone is pretty much trying to play it off. Watch Mase’s face the whole time, his facial expressions and gestures are HILARIOUS!!!!! This nikka puts his feet up on the counter and he’s cheesing the whole time. Mase says “now I can work”…. TRANSLATION: THAT N*GGA PUFF BEEN BLOCKING MY MONEY!!!!!!
Ryan was trying to get it started on the low too, he ain’t slick…..
There’s so much going on in this video you may have to watch it a few times to get the reactions of everyone there, just check the video…

BET Audience Frisked For Diddy's Lost Ring
During a recent taping of 106 & Park, Diddy and his Dirty Money group members made a surprise entrance by tossing money at the crowd. Later, he added that some of the money was fake and some of it was real. After showering audience members with cash, Diddy lost a ring that reportedly cost $20,000.
He did his best to get it back, shutting the set down to find the ring. Some audience members began Tweeting. One fan stated that Diddy was "frisking all the kids" and they compared it to a prison. Others said they weren't pleased with how he handled the situation, saying they were held "hostage." Diddy went to Twitter also, to note that "the craziest shit just happened." He added "I guess it's shitting on me season. Enjoy it while it lasts."
"He ain't getting' it back," one witness noted, according to the New York Post. "Someone pocketed that, and they probably took it to the nearest jeweler."
Marcy Polanco, a BET spokeswoman added that the ring flew off as he was throwing the money to fans. BET noted that they searched fans with a metal detecting wand and that they did not hold any audience members.
The rest of the show was taped without a glitch and it can be seen below.

Busta Rhymes Ordered To Pay $75K In Assault Case
Busta Rhymes was ordered to pay an Albany man that accused him of a 2003 assault $75,000 on Wednesday (Oct. 13).
According to the New York Post, Alex Duncan claimed to have suffered not only physical injuries, but psychological ones as well. The victim describes nightmares and other psychological effects following the events of the Sept. 13, 2003 alteraction.
Duncan alleged that the Brooklyn rapper poured water on him and punched him in the face during a break at a concert in SUNY Albany.
“I wanted something to come out of it,” said Duncan, regarding the case’s outcome. “I don’t even go to parties anymore, because there’s always someone asking, ‘What happened to that Busta Rhymes case?’ ”
Busta's lawyer, Robert Kalina, was not present at the trial or yesterday's hearing, and has not offered comment on the case.

Shyne Expected To Be Released From Prison Today
Rapper Shyne is expected to be released from prison today, as initially reported on Drama Kingzzz this August. The 30 year-old rapper a/k/a Jamal Barrow was sentenced to 10 years in June of 2001 for charges stemming from a high-publicized 1999 shooting incident involving Diddy and Jennifer Lopez. During his eight-plus year sentence, the Brooklyn emcee was incarcerated at Riker's Island, Woodbourne and Clinton Correctional Facility.
Since the incident, the rapper released his only two albums: 1999's platinum self-titled album on Bad Boy Records, and 2004's Godfather Buried Alive release on Def Jam, including a song recorded through the phone from prison.
In the last eight years, the rapper has been speculated and rumored to sign with various labels including Murder Inc., Death Row Records and most recently Roc Nation. The rapper has confirmed none of these rumors, and spoken few times publicly, most recently to XXL magazine.
Diddy spoke to HOT97 recently on Shyne's release, stating, “It's a blessing that he's coming home...I spoke to him like a couple of weeks ago and he sounded like he was in good spirits. I know he can't wait to get home. I know he is definitely going to heat the whole scene up. He was definitely one of [many] talented young artists that I had the pleasure to work with. I'm quite sure he's been using his time wisely and has some heat.”

Nas - Open Letter To Young Warriors
A week after a 16-year-old high school student's death shocked the citizens of Chicago, Nas has written an open letter to the city's youth asking them to stop the cycle of violence. The rapper was reacting to the videotaped beating of honor roll student Derrion Albert, who police say walked unknowingly into the path of a brawl between two rival groups, becoming the latest statistic in a grim death toll in Chicago schools, where 34 students were killed last school year, according to The New York Times.
"Dear Young Warriors fighting the wrong wars!" Nas wrote in an essay posted on GlobalGrind.com. "Killing each other is definitely played out. Being hurt from the lost of a love one was never cool. ... I know that feeling, that frustration with life and needing to take it out on someone, anyone. But ...we chose the dumbest things to go the hardest for."
Nas recalled seeing kids killed over designer clothing, sneakers, chains, "he say, she say" beefs, turf wars and youth seeking revenge for neglect from their parents.
"I remember feeling like I was the hardest 'n*gga' breathing," he wrote. "And I couldn't wait to prove it. But let's think. What are we really proving?? And proving what to who?? Everybody knows Chicago breeds the strongest of the strong but I just feel, me, being ya brother from another state, feel your pain as if I grew up with you in ya very own household."
Four teens were charged with first-degree murder on Monday in Albert's slaying, in which the youth was beaten with wooden planks and kicked in the head after stumbling into a fight a few blocks from his school, Christian Fenger Academy High School. Authorities said the fight followed a shooting earlier in the day outside the school involving the two groups. Police are studying the widely distributed amateur video of the incident, the third killing of a student since the school year began. Chicago Public School officials have implemented a new anti-violence plan this fall, the Times reports, and they plan to offer extra counseling and assistance to schools and students deemed most likely to be involved in violence.
Nas encouraged kids to avoid becoming a statistic or playing into stereotypes. "You have the ability and mind power to change they way we are looked at," the rapper said. "Look who's watching us, young warriors. Look who's throwing us in jail constantly; look at the ignorance in the world. Look at the racist dogs who love to see us down. Loving to bury us in the ground or in jail where we continue this worthless war on one another.
"We are wasting more and more time," Nas urged. "We gotta get on our jobs and take over the world. ... When we see each other, why do we see hatred? Why were we born in a storm, born soldiers, warriors ... and instead of building each other up, we are at war with each other. ... May the soul of this young person find peace with the almighty. I'm with you young warriors. You're me and I'm you. But trust me! You are fighting the wrong war."
The specter of the grim murder has brought unwanted attention to Chicago just before President Barack Obama flies to Copenhagen this Thursday in support of his hometown's bid to host the 2016 Olympic Games.

Diddy & Bad Boy officially on Interscope
It is official, P. Diddy has been signed to Interscope Records. Rumor that he sealed a deal with the giant recording company actually sparked days before he opened up about his departure from Atlantic Records.
"I am excited to be partnering with Jimmy Iovine and the Interscope Records family on all my future music ventures which include my career as a recording artist and upcoming record label," Diddy said in a press release. "With this new deal, I look forward to signing music's next great superstars to the label and continuing the legacy of making great music at my new home. This is the beginning of a new musical era for Bad Boy."
Jimmy who is Chairman of Interscope Geffen A&M also offered his comment stating, "Puff is a rare person in the music industry today, that can move the culture in many areas - fashion, TV, music - as well as making records. Whenever a free agent like him comes along, which is rare, you grab him."
The press release also revealed that "under the new partnership, all of Diddy's future releases will be distributed via Interscope Records, as will albums by any future artists to join the Bad Boy roster. All artists currently signed to Bad Boy Records will still continue to release projects through Warner Music Group."
"Last Train to Paris" will be P. Diddy's first studio album under Interscope. It is due to hit U.S. market on November 24 with one of its singles "Love Come Down" which features his newly-formed group Dirty Money to be outed physically and digitally this week.
