The Game, R.E.D.

For all the G-Unot rants then extractions, and going back at them and then asking for forgiveness, for all the “Fuck Jay-Z” tantrums and crying talkin’ about, “That’s why I don’t wanna be a part of hip-hop no more (*tear*),” and the butterfly tat followed by an LA tat which was followed by a big red star, to the fauxhawks and just overall suspect behavior, I still fucks with Game. I was a fan way before he signed to G-Unit and I still am to this day. The man can spit and make pretty decent songs when he’s on his A game. Sure 70 percent of his rhymes includes famous names, references to a famous someone’s name or naming California itself, but ultimately Game has a knack for making good songs and dope freestyles (“I’m So Wavy” was basura, though).

This mixtape is a collection of leaked Game tracks, freestyles and songs that you probably never heard before if you aren’t on top of these mixtapes or internet downloads. From the Bishop Lamont diss, “Blood Respect” where Game used Auto-Tune to spazz on Dr. Dre’s protégé to “Mafia Music” Remix where he was the only rapper who didn’t throw a shot at Pimpin’ Curly (Ja Rule, you DUMB late with that verse; Joe, why? And Rick, not bad, but it’s useless already).

The collabos continued on “Flashback Memories” where he and the god, Raekwon spoke on their lives before superstardom with Game reminiscing, “Rewind time, 10 years before I had the Lex/mailman scared to drop the bills on my doorstep/little nigga street dreaming about a fast car/my father had dope tracks like his arm was Nascar/in ’87, shit, I was maybe 7/watching my big brother throwing 10 and come back with 11/only knew what it was cause I overheard/my pops on the phone talking ‘bout selling all my birds/I cried the next 8 years over them pigeons/only to find out not one of them was missing.”

This mixtape is riddled with joints that show and prove that Game can still be a problem and if he gets his second wind, he just might be again. He can still rhyme, flow and create as good as ever. Though his tribute to Michael Jackson, “Better On The Other Side,” was a bit odd, his verse was still pretty damn decent. And “Bang Along” was a cool ass Saturday morning type song that you can throw on and just get you’re weekend continued with a good vibe. On the other hand the Snoop featured, “On The Block” could better serve as a Saturday night special. Regardless to his bipolar tendencies and erratic behavior, Game is still recognized as an MC and is still a prominent figure whenever LA hip-hop comes to mind. Whether it’s cause you love him or hate him, his name still holds weight. But will he self-destruct before he can get it back together? From the looks of this mixtape cover, I’ll give him a 50/50 chance.—The Infamous O

Hottest Joint: “Bang Along”

Weakest Joint: “Put It In The Air”

Janet Jackson and Jermaine Dupri Call It Quits?

Another day, another breakup rumor for Janet Jackson and Jermaine Dupri.

US Weekly reported this morning that the couple has split after almost seven years together because they are "polar opposites [who] were never too compatible." Jackson is shy and private, while Dupri is a gregarious charmer who loves to be out and about.

Buzz that the relationship had taken a recent dive began circulating after Dupri was a no-show at Michael Jackson's memorial service...

And I just learned that shortly before the King of Pop's death, Janet left the publicist she shared with Dupri for another high-powered mouthpiece.

However, two days before the Staples Center tribute, Dupri and Jackson were spotted together grabbing a bite to eat at a burger stand at the Malibu Country Mart. "They seemed like they were still together," an eyewitness says.

Reps for Jackson and Dupri are not commenting today. So, where are the two now?

Jackson is reportedly back at work reprising her role as Patricia in the sequel to Tyler Perry's 2007 comedy hit Why Did I Get Married? Her costar Malik Yoba blogged on Monday that she was back and "all seems well."

Dupri has been crisscrossing the country for DJ gigs. On Saturday night, he played Mixx nightclub at the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City. He dedicated one set to Michael.

And he did the same last night, but at the Bud Light Lime party at the Underground in Chicago. "He deejayed for two hours and drank Johnny Walker Blue all night," a source says. "He seemed to be in a really good mood."

Before launching into some hits by Janet's late brother, Dupri said, "I love you and I hear you Michael," according to a clubgoer.

As much as breakup talk has plagued the two, there have also been countless reports about an engagement.

"Most people don't get it right," Jackson told me in April 2008 when our talk turned to marriage. "Look at me! The thing is, I don't know if I ever will or won't get married again. I'm very happy where I am. I just think I jinx marriages, but that's not going to stop me from loving."

Nas Responds to Kelis’s Divorce Demands

The divorce case between Nas and Kelis continues to get super ugly. Nas claims Kelis over-reported his income by more than two times his actual earnings in their bitter breakup.

According to tmz.com, the Queens rapper claimed in legal documents his album deal earned him $4 million, not the $11 million that Kelis suggests.

“I did not receive even half that amount,” Nas’s papers read.

Kelis says Nas hasn’t provided any child or spousal support since they couple split in April. Meanwhile, Nas claims he’s agreed to drop $350 for a stroller, $450 for a baby sling and $1,598 for two baby cribs.

Kelis, who is pregnant with Nas’s child, unsuccessfully attempted to move the hearing date forward last month, as not to conflict with her impending delivery. The judge was on vacation, so the date remains set for July 21

Foul play suspected in Gatti's death

SAO PAULO -- Former boxing champion Arturo Gatti, one of the most exciting fighters of his generation, was found dead in a hotel room in the posh seaside resort of Porto de Galihnas early Saturday.

Police investigator Edilson Alves told The Associated Press that the body of the former junior welterweight champ was discovered in his hotel room at the tourist resort, where Gatti had arrived on Friday with his Brazilian wife Amanda and 1-year-old son.

Alves said police were investigating and it was unclear how the 37-year-old Canadian died. Foul play is suspected in the death, the CBC reported.

Jaguar XJ Is Back With Some Bite

JAGUAR has two emblems, and each is a version of its totemic animal. Their informal names, the Leaper and the Growler, suggest two aspects of the British company’s tradition. The Leaper is a long, lithe cat, usually seen as a hood ornament; it signifies feline grace. The Growler is a full-frontal cat face, its teeth bared aggressively; it represents raw power.

The Growler may be supplanting the Leaper at Jaguar, to judge from the company’s redesigned and radically different flagship sedan, the XJ, which was unveiled in London on Thursday.

The new XJ replaces a sedan — or saloon, as the British charmingly call it — whose basic shape had not changed since 1968. The old car’s proportions were like nothing else still on the road; it appeared as long and stately as its bloodline.

“The XJ completes the family,” Ian Callum, Jaguar’s design director, said in a telephone interview before the unveiling. The big sedan carries out design themes that Mr. Callum introduced on the 2007 XK sports car and on the 2009 XF midrange sedan.

Jaguar also has a new owner, Tata Motors of India, which bought the marque, along with Land Rover, from Ford last year. Jaguar’s ill-fated venture into cheaper cars, with the X-Type line based on the Ford Mondeo, is history. And in recent years Jaguar has vastly improved its ratings in consumer quality and satisfaction surveys by J. D. Power & Associates and others.

The new sedan has a Growler, not a Leaper, on the front. “Aggressive” is the word Mr. Callum kept using to describe the design. “We want Jaguars to be noticed again,” he said.

For years Mr. Callum told anyone willing to listen—and some, within his company, who were unwilling — that a Jaguar tradition is to alter tradition. “We should be brave,” he has said repeatedly.

Referring to the company’s legendary founder, Mr. Callum said: “Sir William Lyons wasn’t fearful of his heritage. It was his heritage, and he could do what you like with it. Part of that heritage is to keep moving forward.”

Everyone seemed to love the old XJ, but most Jaguar aficionados knew it had gone on too long. Over the years, the things that were new about the car — like the aluminum body that made its debut in 2003 —were invisible. What was visible was old.

(Jaguar says the aluminum body of the new sedan weighs no more than the steel body of a Mini, suggesting that the planned 6- and 8-cylinder engines should be able to move the XF with catlike quickness.)

Mr. Callum said Jaguar needed “to do what Lyons would have done — something new and fresh, something off-center, with style and presence and glamour.” For the new design, he added, “We wanted a modern car with modern proportions.”

The new XJ signals the end of Jaguar’s retro period, initiated by the late Geoff Lawson, Mr. Callum’s predessor. “We had to get away from oval grilles harking too literally to the past,” Mr. Callum said.

Not that the new car is without references to earlier models. The grille is inset like an air intake, evoking a racecar, Mr. Callum said. All Jaguars now feature the diagonal wire mesh of classic racers.

But the touchstone of the new design is a long, flowing roofline — and it is also the part of the design that may alienate traditionalists the most.

With its rakish rear window and side glass framed by a bold chrome parabola, the look is a striking departure from earlier XJs, though it is in keeping with coupelike four-door cars like the Mercedes CLS.

“We wanted a full five-passenger car, so we’ve moved the profile of the roofline rearward,” Mr. Callum said. He admitted to a visual trick: darkening the rearmost roof pillar to reduce its visual weight.

Mr. Callum also emphasized a horizontal look. Seen in profile, the body is expansive and barely ornamented. The side vents behind the front wheels are simple, horizontal lines, in contrast to the XK’s upright vertical crease.

The taillights are radically new — what Mr. Callum calls our “brave lamp graphic.” They suggest gothic arches, and indeed Mr. Callum referred to them as “cathedral window lamps.”

The XJ’s design was set before Tata took over Jaguar, and Mr. Callum said the design process had become simpler under the new owners. After years of dealing with layers of Ford management, he said: “In many ways we are our own bosses. We don’t have so many levels of approval to go through. The hierarchy is simpler. It is more entrepreneurial, and so my life has become more straightforward.

“Mr. Ratan Tata likes design and has a good design sense and comes in every month or so,” he added. “We have an enjoyable discussion.”

As for the Leaper, it hasn’t gone away, but has moved from the front to the rear. The famous hood ornament is partly a casualty of globalization, Mr. Callum said, since such protrusions are banned for pedestrian-safety reasons in many countries. The Leaper now appears silhouetted on the XJ’s raked rear end, a final bold brush stroke on the sheet-metal canvas.

Lil Wayne Sued For Cancelled Show, Manager Responds

Red City Entertainment has sued New Orleans rapper Lil Wayne over a September 27, 2008 cancelled show in the Bahamas.

According to TMZ, Red City had planned on paying Weezy $432,000 for the show, and had given him an advance of $210,000. However, Red City representatives allege Wayne was found in his hotel room “unconscious” at the time he was supposed to be performing.
The rappers' manager Cortez Bryant has spoken out on the issue, arguing the cancelled show was a rescheduled performance from the day before.

“Our show was set for September 26 last year. We arrived on time, ready to perform and learned that due to lack of payment from the promoters, the sound company they had hired packed up and left the venue before Wayne was scheduled to hit the stage. So they were forced to cancel the show. On those grounds, at that moment, they were in breach of contract and forfeited their deposit,” he said in a statement to AllHipHop.com.

Explaining that Wayne had agreed to reschedule for a performance the next day, Bryant said the promoters failed to follow proper procedures that satisfied their contract. “When I arrived at the venue, the security was horrible, causing it to be an unsafe environment and the sound system wasn’t up to our contracted standard.” Continuing, Bryant stated, “I then told the promoters Wayne wasn’t coming because they didn’t have their setup to a contracted standard for the second night in a row.” Red City Entertainment is seeking $432,000 in the lawsuit.

Drake Reality Show?! Drake Talks Lil Wayne, Jay-Z, Kanye, Toronto, Hot Dates, Coping with Fame and More!

Drake sat down at the Sirius studios with DJ Whoo Kid to discuss his new deal with Lil Wayne’s Young Money, the story behind the concept for his “Best I Ever Had” video, the importance of uplifting his hometown of Toronto, his upcoming album and work with Jay-Z, Jeezy, Mary J. Blige and more.

Do Drake and Kanye really get along? Will he be doing a reality show? What is Drake’s idea of a quality night out with a lady? Why do men benefit from his music? How is he coping with fame and money? Who are Drake’s favorite rappers? Find out the answers in this Hip Hop One-on-One exclusive from RadioPlanet.tv!

Maino Feat. Swizz Beatz “Million Bucks”

Who’s Real?

Drake’s new “Best I Ever Had” video currently has the Internet goin’ nuts (and with good reason; Kanye discovered the real reason that slow-motion was invented and it wasn’t to watch LeBron James dunk a basketball.) But between repeated viewings of Coach Drake’s All-Stars getting crushed by the D, I’ve been glued to the viral videos that surfaced in the weeks before his big debut. The ones from when he was known as Aubrey or Wheelchair Jimmy instead of Drizzy that feature him hopping over puddles with his BFFs and arguing with his mom about tuna fish sandwiches. My initial reason for watching the throwback clips was to laugh at how corny the apparent prince of hip-hop used to be, but the more I watched, the more I got to thinking…

Is Drake the realest dude in rap right now?

Hear me out. The past decade, we’ve all had to suffer through the lies and subsequent exposures of rappers who put more work into their image than their rhymes. The list of fake thugs, Bloods, and king pins is too long to type, plus, I’m not trying to get “Ethered” in a YouTube-diss by any of these Internet gangsters or super-fans for naming names. So instead, I’ll just say that it’s kind of refreshing that a kid who used to get his spending money from Bar Mitzvah checks instead of alleged hand-to-hands actually has the loudest buzz in the game right now.

He’s not getting clowned for pushing a wheelchair and rocking a noble negro (YouTube it) cut on Degrassi because he’s not trying to act like that’s not him. We’ve all had some level of lameness in our pasts (granted, some of these videos are extra lame, and the preteen freak fest during his BET Awards performance still has me scratching my head.) But because he’s acknowledging it all instead of acting like he busts his gun, it doesn’t look like he’ll be getting Young Berg’ed anytime soon.

I realize that his realness may come from the fact that he has no choice in the matter. Unlike other former child stars who desperately beg for street cred when they decide they want to be grown (I said I wasn’t naming names) and gangsta rappers who think that their pasts of dating shows or law enforcement aren’t floating around somewhere in the Interwebs (no names!) Drake came into this knowing that he had to be himself. We’re well trained in seeing right through the Judas’s in the rap game these days. So there was no way that a Nickelodeon soap-opera star from the suburbs of Toronto could have made it this far if he wasn’t nice.

I’m not the biggest fan of Drake’s music, and others like Maino and Slaughterhouse also deserve credit for keeping some level of authenticity in the game, but I have to admit that I respect Drizzy’s grind and am glad that hip-hop’s next big thing realizes that it takes more swag to be yourself than to play a thug on a record.

Sneakers of the Week

NIKE AIR YEEZY (KANYE WEST)

"Already rumors are with us and finally they will lead to the sale of quickstrike by our lands. The slipper designed by Kanye West next to the designer of Nike Mark Smith will have a somewhat prohibitive price, some 250€, but seems to promise some materials and had just first division. The slipper recalls us to an endless number of classics of the footwear of Nike and not forgetting the passion of the singer by Louis Vuitton, this has incorporated a boss with the letter 'AND' of 'Yeezy' that clearly recalls us to the mark of high fashion as to the elephant skin boss of Jordan."

The world's worst kept secret is now offically 'leaked' - the most hyped sneaker of all time is now an official piece of business. Stand by for release details, but our gossip is a local release of limited pairs sometime in the next month or so. This is a one-time-only (again) kinda deal so if you want a pair of Yeezys, be prepared to go all-out!

NIKE AIR MAX 1 (SAFARI PACK) WMNS

Two rivals created by Tinker Hatfield, each debuted in 1987. One revolutionized running on air, while the other revolutionized the aesthetic of footwear design forever, through pattern and print. Revisiting the era of the Air Max 1 and the Air Safari, Nike Sportswear remixed two icons to create something entirely new. In Fall 2009, this Air Max collection makes use of the Air Safari’s iconic leopard print pattern and teams the Safari’s premium leather with the Air Max’s Air Sole. With women’s colorways taking the concept to the next level, the Safari Print is laser-etched to perfection across an array of vibrant color tones.

Christina Milian & The Dream Already MARRIED?!

We just heard some very interesting info. Apparently a major celebrity music executive spilled the beans about Christina Milian and The Dream’s recent secret marriage. And thanks to our source who is dating said music exec, the secret’s now out. Folks involved in The Dream’s label were talking about it amongst themselves and of course our source overheard. So it looks like these two aren’t only engaged, but they may have already had a dreamy miliblonde wedding.

We can’t confirm this info 100% just yet. But if we ever get our hands on a marriage license…you’ll be the first to know. Until then, we’ve got our eye on you Dream & Miliblonde.

More pics of the couple partying at JET nightclub this weekend when you read the rest…

Spandex: Fashion's Greatest Friend

I remember very vividly the moment I fell in love with Spandex. It was the very moment I gazed upon the thick and taut bodies of Salt-N-Papa in the 80's. The video was "Push It" and it was the 80's. S-N-P didn't invent Spandex. That honor goes to Joseph Shivers of the DuPont company who created the elastic, form-fitting shiney and durable material in the late 1950's. Some 30 years later, Spandex was used for working out and allowed daring individuals to show off their body.

For men and pubescent boys, Shivers is an agent of God. He bestowed us with a guilty and not-so-guilty pleasure. These days, Spandex is all the rage. Users include Amber Rose, Lil Kim, Meagan Good, and other heavenly bodies captured by the lenses of many-a-photographer. Soul-singing rapper Amanda Diva even named her last EP, Spandex, Rhymes, and Soul, a melding of her style and music.

Spandex is not for everybody, although the word is derivative of "expands" and has several uses outside of fashion. Men should not use Spandex under any circumstances; unless they are are a superhero or using it for athletic purposes. Frankly, there are some people that are simply too large to sport it like Salt and Pep. Sorry, thick'ums. We love you too, but not in 'Dex.

Now is the time for the homage to Shivers, DuPont and, most importantly, the women that make Spandex so important in modern culture.
